For several weeks volunteers have been learning dance routines that include the Jive, Waltz, Cha-Cha, Salsa, Shag and even Hip-Hop in preparation for the upcoming Dancing with “Our” Stars event. With guidance from The Dance Studio owner, Nikki Brantley, these fearless dancers are now ready to compete for the coveted mirror ball trophy!

The competing dancers are Heather Newsom, Penny Quick, Tara Myers, Kim Cauthen, Mark Ingram, Charles Skipper, Jimmy Ford, Theodore Burns, and John Long.

The Cheraw Arts Commission and The Dance Studio are presenting this evening of dance Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Theatre on the Green, with proceeds supporting children’s art programs.

The event begins at 7 p.m. and concludes with a reception at the Wine Factory following the performance. The winners, selected by audience vote, will be announced at the reception.

There also will be several demo performances by area shag dancers Marcia and Rhett Butler, Susan and Jackie Furr, and Harriet and Jimmy Conn. Catherine Henderson will perform an en pointe ballet piece.

Tickets for the event are available at the Cheraw Community Center, 200 Powe Street, and The Dance Studio, 110 Duval Street. Tickets are $25 for performance and reception; $15 for performance only. Student tickets, for ages 18 and under, are $10.

For more information call the Cheraw Arts Commission at 843-537-8420, ext. 12, or the Dance Studio at 843-517-0571.

The Cheraw Arts Commission is supported by the United Way of Chesterfield County and the South Carolina Arts Commission which receives funding from the National Endowment for the Arts.
