The Coach-Pitch District 5 State Tournament being held at Arrowhead Park in Cheraw this week offers more than an opportunity for the young ones to play ball, it gives the entire family the chance to pack up the lawn chairs and a cooler full of snacks for a day at the park.

The playoff games, hosted the Cheraw Recreation and Leisure Services Department, will continue through Friday of this week. Fourteen teams were slated to play this week, but only two will advance from these fields to the Coach-Pitch State Tournament in Florence on June 28.

This tournament brings team members, coaches and families to the Cheraw area from Kershaw, Hartsville, Jefferson, Pageland, Chesterfield and Lamar.

The Bracket B finals will begin at 6 p.m. Friday at Arrowhead Park.

Admission will be $4 for adults and $3 for children. The public is invited.
