The annual Veteran’s Day Parade and Ceremony are set to begin at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in Chesterfield. If it rains the parade will be canceled and the ceremony will take place inside the Chesterfield County Courthouse at 11 a.m.
Nolen Bivens, a Chesterfield native and retired Brigadier General of the U.S. Army, will be the guest speaker.
Bobby Griffith, organizer for the event, asks that all veterans in the area participate in the ceremonies, regardless of their physical mobility. Veterans, and other volunteers, will be on hand, said Griffith, to help participants with wheelchairs and other mobility vehicles such as golf carts.
Griffith also encourages school groups and civic organizations to join the festivities. Anyone interested in joining the parade should contact Griffith at 843-623-2569, or the Veterans Affairs Office at 843-623-2482.
Parade participants will begin to line up at 10 a.m. on Hursey Drive, across from Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home on Main Street. The parade will proceed westward from there and end at the courthouse at 200 Main Street.
