Emma Covington has been named Miss Marlboro Academy 2014.


Covington, a freshman, is the daughter of Rhett and Gray Covington of McColl. She also was recognized as the “People’s Choice Award” winner, an award given to the contestant whose sponsorship board raised the most funds for the publication of the school’s yearbook.


Alexa Boan was named first runner-up; Brooke Simmons, second runner-up; Kristen Crowley, third runner-up; and Emily Sheppard, fourth runner-up.


Elise Sanders was voted Miss Congeniality 2014.


The 45th annual event centered upon the theme “One Moment in Time,” celebrating the music of the 1980’s. Emmie Beck and Kenneth Lynch served as producer and director, respectively. Crystal McInnis served as choreographer, and Lane Ragsdale was Master of Ceremonies.
