Chesterfield County will once again open its country dirt roads for the Sandblast Rally 2014. Nearly 100 drivers are registered to compete.
Each year, participants from all over the country, return to this area because they say they love the sand.
According to estimates given Chesterfield County Council members earlier this year, local businesses are making a good deal of money as the county hosts this race through the Sandhills.
Amy Feistel, a representative for the rally, told council members the event could generate at much as $90,000 for local restaurants, hotels, convenience stores and others.
Drivers, their vehicles, and team members will be available to the public Friday night on Main Street in Chesterfield, beginning at 6 p.m.
The race begins, one at a time, on Main Street in Chesterfield Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. Drivers will make pit stops in Patrick, where spectator guides for the race are available for purchase.
