More than 200 students attended the “Morp” last Friday night at the Cheraw Community Center. The event, sponsored each year by the Cheraw Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services, is a formal dance for students in grades 6 through 8. The word is a backward spelling of “prom.”

Many of the young people attending the event began the evening by using Cheraw’s historical buildings as a backdrop for photographs.

“It was a successful and fun event,” said Lisa Skipper, assistant director for the Cheraw Recreation Department.
