CHERAW – After the voting polls closed for the Nov. 3, Cheraw Municipal Election, as of 7 p.m. on Tuesday, the unofficial results rolled in , according to Cheraw Town Administrator Bill Taylor. However, as of Thursday morning, Nov. 4, the Cheraw Election Commission confirmed the results and they are now official. When the municipal election began, then Councilman Robert L. Benton, District two, Councilwoman Jacqueline Ellerbe-Shannon, District four, and then Councilman Mickey Workman, District six, were in competition with Billy Wallace, J.J. Wallace and Reid McBride.
However, the election results now show that Robert Benton is now replaced by Billy Wallace, who had 60 votes and Jacqueline Ellerbe-Shannon maintained her status as Council member for the next four-year term over her opponent, J.J. Wallace. Mickey Workman, also faced the loss of his council seat with his opponent, Reid McBride. McBride won by a land slide of 146 votes to Workman’s 32.
Listed below are the official results of the Cheraw Municipal Election as of Thursday, Nov.4, according to Taylor. Taylor said on Thursday that the Election Commission certified the results in being correct.
