The Cheraw Arts Commission Children’s Playhouse presents the Tarradiddle Players in the “Commedia Cinderella” on Saturday, Feb. 4. The performance for family audiences will begin at 11 a.m. at the Theatre on the Green.
In this funny, fast-paced show, the Tarradiddle Players put a slapstick spin on one of the world’s most famous fairy tales. Beautiful Cinderella is forced to work as a kitchen maid by her mean Stepmother and two ugly Stepsisters, but thanks to a little help from her Fairy Godmother, she still has a chance to win the hand of the handsome Prince. With roots in the humorous, physical acting style of Italian Commedia dell’arte, this production is a lighthearted treat.
The Tarradiddle Players, the Resident Touring Company of Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, are no stranger to our area, having spread the joy of live theatre many times at the Theatre on the Green. The ensemble has performed for more than one million children during its 39 years.
Tickets for the performance are $5 and are available at the Cheraw Community Center, 200 Powe St., or at the theatre on the day of the performance. This is a great opportunity for our community to see live theatre in Cheraw at an affordable price. Similar tickets for the same show usually sell for $14-18 in other locations.
