COLUMBIA – A Chesterfield man, Johnny Lee Burch, 55, was sentenced in federal court for allegedly breaking into the Chesterfield Post Office, according to a report from the U.S. Attorney District of South Carolina Office.

United States District Judge, R. Bryan Harwell, of Florence, sentenced Burch to three years in a federal prison. The report states that the evidence presented during the guilty plea hearing established that Burch allegedly broke into the Chesterfield Post Office on March 19, 2009 and allegedly stole approximately $320 in cash and food. He was arrested a few days later by the Chesterfield Police Department. The Chesterfield Police Department, in conjunction with agents of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, investigated the case. Asst. U.S. Attorney, William E. Day, II, of the Florence office handled the case.
