Chesterfield-Marlboro E.O.C. holds new workshop

BENNETTSVILLE - The Chesterfield - Marlboro Economic Opportunity Council (E.O.C.) sponsored "From the Employer's Perspective", a (Workforce Investment Act (WIA) workshop, at the Bennettsville Onestop office on Oct. 9. Doris Brown, WIA Lead Career Specialist/GCDF, who conducted the workshop, said that job seekers were provided with information directly that aids them in the employment process. According to Brown, future workshops are currently in the planning stage and the next one will be held on Dec. 4.

"The next workshop will also be held here at the Bennettsville location on December 4. We are looking forward to another successful event," said Brown. "This workshop was a collaborative effort with the WIA staff and the Bennettsville Employment Security Commission, in which Doris Ann Breeden is the director."

Representatives presenting at the workshop included Assistant City Administrator, Angela W. Ward, City of Bennettsville; Amy Larsen, Supervisor of Education Department, U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons, Federal Correctional Institution; Lt. Ezzard C. Jackson, Evans Correctional Institution, Shift Lt. And Recruiter; and James Hillian, Chesterfield - Marlboro, E.O.C., Inc., Bennettsville Onestop WIA Staff Director and Cheraw Onestop Manager.

The hot topics of the day included interviewing skills, employment opportunities, resume building information, job requirements, work schedules, duties and benefits, and panel interviews - process and purpose.
