Traditional Fourth of July events such as fireworks, parades, outdoor concerts and the like, are all part of the Independence Eve Celebration planned for Tuesday, July 3, in downtown Cheraw. The festivities are part of the same Cheraw Alive!! Sunsational Summer Music Series, sponsored by the Cheraw Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services Department, that brought Too Much Sylvia to Centennial Park last week.
Tuesday’s events will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the annual Children’s Trikes, Bikes and Wagon Parade. By 7 p.m. most of Second Street will be blocked off for an outdoor concert with the classic Motown sounds of the East Coast Rhythm and Blues Band of Raleigh, N.C. By 10 p.m. the sky over downtown Cheraw will be alive with a spectacular fireworks display.
The parade begins in the Habitat for Humanity Restore parking lot on Front Street and will proceed to Town Hall. Prizes will be awarded for the most Patriotic costumes and best decorated bike, trike, or wagon. Free refreshments will be served. Motorized vehicles will not be allowed.
Games, provided by TC’s Amusements, will be offered for the children from 6 p.m. until 9:45 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets for these activities will be available for the bungee trampoline, giant slide, bounce house, TC’s Choppers, and more.
A variety of concessions will be available for purchase: pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, Italian Ice, funnel cakes, popcorn, drinks, and more. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the food and festivities. Admission is free; however a small fee will be charged for games and concessions.
