The newly formed Chesterfield County Economic Development Alliance has not only met its fund-raising goal of $800,000 in the last seven months, it has exceeded that number by $130,695.

“We did it!” said Brenda Workman, executive director for the Alliance.

“These results clearly show our investors’ commitment to the economic future of Chesterfield County, and we are very grateful,” Workman said.

“Now that we have a budget,” Workman said, the next thing to do is to put people and programs in place to work toward the strategic plan the Alliance has put together through feasibility studies.

There are three main areas in which the money will be spent. First, are plans to create a “workforce pipeline to train skilled workers,” Workman said. Next, are plans to improve the infrastructure of roads. And the third is to recruit more new business.

“We would like to thank Chesterfield County Council who supported the Alliance both in philosophy and in funding,” she said, along with each of the county’s municipalities and many businesses and individuals.

“Last but not least, we would like to thank ‘local boy’ Scott Faulkenberry from Convergent Nonprofit Solutions, who did most of the heavy lifting and carried us through a tough, but very successful campaign,” said Workman. “Your dedication and professionalism will long be remembered.”

“We are committed to keeping our investors involved and aware of how their investment is working for Chesterfield County,” said Workman.
