The former Darlington Fire Chief was arrested on Friday, July 27, 2012, according to state authorities.
According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, James C. Stone, 71, of 410 Spring St., Darlington, was charged with Misconduct in Office.
Stone was booked at the Darlington County Detention Center.
Authorities said the arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by SLED at the request of the Darlington City Police Department. The case will be prosecuted by the Fourth Circuit Solicitors’ Office.
