Horace B. Cheves, 91, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 23, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Wallace.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 22, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home, Chesterfield.

Cheves was born June 15, 1921, in Wallace, a son of the late Nelson and Bertis Steen Cheves. He was a retired farmer and cotton gin operator. Cheves was a U.S. Army Veteran. In addition to his parents, Cheves was also preceded in death by his son, Wade Langdon Cheves; two granddaughters, Lori Annette Bennett and Tonya Denise Brock; and by his brother, Kermit Cheves.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Marcella Griggs Cheves of the home, two daughters; Lois Cheves Bennett of Cheraw, and Evelyn Cheves Brock of Chesterfield, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home of Chesterfield, is serving the family.
