Howard Leon Gulledge, 83, of Beaufort, died Wednesday, May 19, 2004.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 23 from Anderson Funeral Home. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Born in Ruby, Mr. Gulledge was a son of W.C. and Flonnie Welsh Gulledge. He was the widower of Margaret Moore Gulledge and Eunice Harter Gulledge. He was one of the founders of Shell Point Baptist Church and retired form United Telephone Company in Beaufort.

Surviving are two sisters, Mildred Thurman of Ruby, and Dorothy Giles of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Jady Gulledge of Ruby, and John B. (O'Lena) Gulledge of High Point, N.C.; and four stepsons, Gary E. and Harold A. Harter of Beaufort, Gerald D. Harter of Freemont, Calif., and John B. Harter Jr. of Tampa, Fla.; and two stepdaughters, Judy Michell and Audrey Fowler of Atlanta.

Arrangements were entrusted to Anderson Funeral Home.
