CHERAW - A Cheraw man was arrested on Saturday after Cheraw Police Department responded to a dispatched call in the IGA parking lot related to a hit and run incident. According to reports, Stacey Kenneth McDonald, 44, of Cheraw, had allegedly hit a pedestrian in the IGA parking lot and then fled the scene. Cheraw Police Department's PFC Jerry Harold Lundy, arrived at the scene, where he spoke with two witnesses who then advised him that McDonald had allegedly saw the victim walking in the parking lot but did not slow down his vehicle.

The report stated that the second witness confirmed the same information to Officer Lundy. Lt. Tim Adair, of the Cheraw Police Department, later found McDonald at his residence where he was then taken into custody.

McDonald told Lt. Adair that he got scared and left the scene. The victim was transported to Chesterfield General Hospital. She suffered a broken fibula and tibula in her left leg.

McDonald's bond was set for $5,000 for the hit and run charge and $647 for the DUS charge.

McDonald still remains in the Chesterfield County Detention Center as of Tuesday morning, according to Cheraw Police Chief Jay Brooks.
