Madge Jones Stroud, 95, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, in Chapel Hill.
Grave side service will be 1 p.m., Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery, Chesterfield.
Stroud was the widow of W. Flake Stroud. She was born June 27, 1917, in Chesterfield County, a daughter of the late John Rayfield and Eliza Elma Jones. She lived most of her life in the Center Point Community of Chesterfield, and she and Flake were married for nearly 73 years. Madge was a faithful member of Hopewell Baptist Church for many years. Her life was devoted to caring for her extended family. In addition to her parents, Madge was also preceded in death by her husband, Flake Stroud, granddaughter, Ginny Stroud, and brothers, Tom, Cary, and Reece Jones.
She is survived by, four children, Shelby Jean (Dr. David) Ingram of Chapel Hill, N.C., Dr. Cary E. (Dr. Donna) Stroud of Greenville, W. Ken (Gretchen) Stroud of Pinehurst N.C., and Joel F. Stroud of Chesterfield, five grandchildren, two step grandchildren, three great grandchildren, step great granddaughter, brother, Lonnie Jones of High Point, N.C., sister, Margaret Sampson of Silver Springs, Md., brother-in-law, Robert Stroud of Chesterfield. Also, four sisters-in-law of High Point, N.C. and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
