The Malloy Foundation trustees enthusiastically endorsed the challenge from Brad Turley, president of Continuum Performance Systems, for adding funds to the Entrepreneurship Development Fund that his firm established in partnership with Northeastern Technical College.

The Malloy Foundation contributed $3,000 to the NETC Entrepreneurship Development Fund in support of grants that will be awarded to current NETC students or NETC alumni ready to begin a business venture or needing assistance with an existing business.

Bill Malloy, chairman of the Malloy Foundation, praised the effort for higher learning for future entrepreneurs and potential job creation and encouraged others in the community to support the grant competition. Individuals who qualify and receive the grant will be awarded start-up money and will also receive counseling from experts in accounting, marketing, legal work, human resources and other areas needed to operate a successful business.

“We are excited and appreciative to receive our first donation to the Entrepreneurship Development Fund from the Malloy Foundation,” said Ron Bartley, president of NETC. “It is our hope that other groups and organizations embody this same spirit for community and will help grow the fund with additional contributions.”

Continuum, a Connecticut based software company with a Cheraw branch office, established the fund with a donation of $25,000 and pledged an additional $25,000 in matching funds to assist in the growth of the Entrepreneurship Development Fund for annual award opportunities.

“Northeastern Technical College is excited to be a part of this venture for economic and community growth,” Bartley said. “The Entrepreneurship Development Fund will greatly benefit alumni and students of the college in achieving their dreams and business goals, as well as becoming contributing members of the community.”

The grant is open to any student taking classes at NETC or an alumnus. An application can be filled out and submitted online by going to NETC’s website at www.netc.edu.
