McBee - A McBee High School student has been suspended for allegedly having possession of a weapon on school grounds, according to the Chesterfield County Sheriff's report. While Sgt. Garry Munn of the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office was on duty Monday at the school, he was called to assist McBee High School Principal, Dennis McDaniel and Asst. Principal, Connie Townsend, with the search of a student. According to the police report, the student was believed to have had a weapon inside his book bag. Munn said that he searched the student's book bag and found an old two-shot Derringer gun. The student was then detained. Munn said that the student's vehicle, which was parked in the student parking lot, was also searched. A folding pocketknife was also retrieved from behind the driver's seat. The student was taken to Principal McDaniel's office to complete the required school paperwork. The student's aunt was called and advised of the incident. She was informed that her nephew was being detained. He was transported to the Chesterfield County Detention Center and was held there for Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ).
