RUBY – Mr. N. Burris Baker, age 87, died Jan. 29, 2010.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Feb. 1, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel

Burial was held in Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, Pageland.

Visitation was 1-2 p.m. Feb. 1, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Baker was born July 1, 1922, a son of the late Brady and Ruth Gibson Baker. He retired after many years of service as general manager and salesperson with Nyanza Inc. Mr. Baker was a member of Ruby Baptist Church. Burris was a history enthusiast and enjoyed reading his Bible, having read the Bible through numerous times.

Burris was preceded in death by his twin sister, Beatrice “Bea” Baker Atwell and by his brother, Lloyd M. Baker.

Surviving is his wife, Ester Jordan Baker of the home; siblings, Bernice Baker Gaskins of Ruby, Peggy Baker Porter of Monroe, N.C., Diane Atwell of Kannapolis, N.C. and Susie Baker of Ruby, Dana, Mike, and Trent Alexander and Chris Hancock all of Ruby.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
