BENNETTSVILLE - Three Marlboro County men have been charged with several drug related charges as a result of an ongoing drug investigation of the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office. Bond hearings were set last Friday on Oct. 23 for the three suspects. According to the MCSO, the investigation turned out to be another successful investigation for the MCSO. According to the report, law enforcement authorities charged and arrested Larry Wayne Douglas, 3138 Hwy. 38N of Bennettsville, for possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession of crack cocaine, assault with intent to kill, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and possession of a firearm by persons unlawful. Also, Dominique Moore of 3138 Hwy. 38N, Bennettsville, was arrested for possession with intent to distribute marijuana. A third suspect, Nicholas J. Williams, 3654 Hwy. 38N, Bennettsville, S.C., was arrested for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of crack cocaine. The men were apprehended and arrested on Oct. 22, 2009. MCSO Lt. Jamie Seales said that he had two groups of officers working in this investigation. One of the groups, arrested Douglas and Williams on a traffic stop and the second group executed a search warrant at 3138 Hwy 38N in Bennettsville, S.C. "This is the residence of Moore and Douglas. Moore is a correctional officer for the State of North Carolina. The traffic stop resulted in over five pounds of marijuana being found in the vehicle and on their persons. Williams was also charged with possession of crack cocaine. Douglas was arrested on assault charges and a gun charge from an unrelated criminal investigation, which occurred at Kelly's Nightclub on Old Wire Road in Wallace a few weeks ago. Moore was at the residence at the time of the search and was charged with over four pounds of marijuana that was found at the residence and more marijuana was found inside the residence. The marijuana at both locations appeared to be from the same group of distributors due to the packaging. When Douglas was booked into the county jail, he incurred an additional charge, where he was found to be in possession of crack cocaine, " stressed Seales. Sheriff Knight said, "This investigation has been ongoing for several weeks and will now continue after the arrests. It has been one of my goals as Sheriff to intercept large quantities of illegal narcotics coming into Marlboro County before they are able to be distributed, we were successful this time." If anyone has any information in this case, they can contact Lt. Jamie G. Seales at 843-439-3033.
