"I'm very excited that the people of Patrick are giving me this chance," Perdue said. "I know I can do a good job for them and will try my best to communicate with them. I feel the more we work together the better off we'll be."
Two items at the top of Perdue's to-do list are working with local businesses to capitalize on tourists coming into the H. Cooper Black Recreation Facility and doing more for Patrick's youth.
Perdue said his two years in the Marines and 37 years of working at Sonoco has taught him a lot about teamwork and the importance of working together to accomplish the goals he has set. He has owned a car business for 24 years.
Perdue has served as chairman of the Patrick Planning Commission and served as chairman of the Patrick Pinestraw Festival Committee for the past five years. He has been a member of the Pinestraw Festival Committee since it was created in 1991.
Also in last Tuesday's election, Roger Griggs reclaimed his Patrick Town Council seat from Sam Weatherford, who defeated him two years ago. Frankie Joyner, David Price and Carson Marshall were all reelected to Town Council.
All four councilman and the mayor will be sworn in at Patrick Town Council's July meeting.
