Benjamin Thomas “Tommy” Harpe Jr., 58, died Sunday, June 10, 2012.
The family received friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw. A funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, at Lower Macedonia Baptist Church in Chesterfield.
Born in Chesterfield, Tommy was a son of Sue Curry Harpe of Cheraw and the late Benjamin Thomas Harpe Sr. He was co-owner of Harpe Family Motors and had been a part of that business for 33 plus years. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, family, friends and having a barbecue and fish fry for all of them. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and going to church. He was a Mason and a Shriner. He was a member of Lower Macedonia Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Graves Harpe of the home; Justin James (Heather) Harpe of Florence; grandchildren, Karley Savannah Harpe, Justin James Harpe Jr., Megan Thompson Loflin; his mother listed above; a brother, Mitchell (Teresa) Harpe of Cheraw; sisters, Terri H. (Joey) Polson of Cheraw and Donna H. (Dean) Smith of Murrells Inlet.
He was preceded in death by his father listed above and a son, Benjamin Thomas Harpe, III.
