Vivian Porth Evatt, 72, died on Oct. 8, 2012.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Oct. 10, at Greenlawn Baptist Church, with Reverend Terry Cagle and Reverend Jeff Smith officiating.
The family received friends immediately following the memorial service at the church. A private graveside service was held prior to the memorial service.
She was born May 5, 1940, to Dorothy Jacobs and Andrew Leroy Porth. Evatt was a 1958 graduate of Dreher High School and a 1962 graduate of the University of South Carolina, where she was a member of the first four-year nursing program class. Evatt was a nurse throughout her career in various capacities. She was predeceased in death by her husband James L. “Jim” Evatt.
Evatt is survived by her son, Jim Evatt (Katie), a daughter, Jennifer Rayfield (Patrick), both of Columbia, a sister, Wanda McElveen (Don), of Columbia, and four grandchildren.
Greenlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family.
