CHERAW — The Prince Hall affiliated Masonic Lodges of Chesterfield County have come together for the first time to provide a helping hand.

On April 25, the lodges held a plate sale with the proceeds being donated to Sue Broadie for financial support during her battle with cancer. During the plate sales, a total of 380 plates were sold.

“Medical bills cost a lot and we just want to do what we can to help this family out,” said Past Master Jimmy McMillon of St. David’s Lodge No. 467 of Cheraw. “It takes a lot of money to go back and forth to doctor’s appointments and hopefully we can bring some kind of financial relief.”

McMillon says that being a part of the community is what the Masonic Lodges strives to do.

“We just try to help out wherever we can,” McMillon said. “We don’t seek fame or anything by what we do. Our goal is to provide any kind of relief, whether it’s financial or anything else we can.”

McMillon encourages anyone interested in donating funds to contact Worshipful Master Stevenson Pierre of the Sanctorium Lodge #25, Worshipful Master Jimmy Harris of the St. David’s Lodge #467 or Worshipful Master Jimmy Bennett of Davis Temple Lodge No. 481.
