Cast members for the upcoming Christmas play, to be presented the first weekend of December at the Theatre on the Green, were announced recently and rehearsals for the comedy began this week.
“We’re glad to be working with so many new members,” said Mike Hunter, who will serve as director for the OnStage production of “Sorry, Wrong Chimney!”
“We’re especially glad to have high school students working with this production,” said Hunter. “It’s nice to see them involved in community theater.”
Sherry Leviner, producer, describes the Christmas play as a “zany, over the top” comedy. Written by Jack Sharkey and Leo W. Sears, the play is set in the New York apartment of a newly married couple.
“It’s definitely a farce,” Leviner said.
Cast members include Jaquavious Harris, Averyona Nicole Gainey, Michael Wagnon, Lillie Myers, Richard Luck, Carrie Allen and Joseph Chewning. Catherine Funderburk will serve as stage manager, Sheila Huggins will be in charge of lights and sound equipment, with help from Eve Nobles. Teresa Chewning will serve as assistant producer and director.
Performances will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29, 30 and Dec. 1, at the Theatre on the Green. Sunday’s matinee performance, Dec. 2, will begin at 3 p.m. Tickets, which are available in advance from the Cheraw Community Center, or at the door, are $8 for adults and $5 for those age 12 and younger.
