January is designated National Hobby Month, and the Cheraw Arts Commission is once again featuring the Creations & Collections of community residents. The dictionary describes a hobby as an activity or interest pursued outside one’s regular occupation, primarily for relaxation. Some hobby enthusiasts are collectors, while other hobbyists prefer to create.
The Cheraw Arts Commission is interested in both collections and creations to be displayed in the Burr Gallery at the Cheraw Community Center during the month of January. It is seeking collections and creations from hobbyists of all ages.
In the past, the commission exhibited a bell collection, quilts, arrowhead collection, hand-knitted items, face jugs, a child’s train collection , and more.
Area hobbyists who are interested in participating in this year’s exhibit or need additional information, should contact the Cheraw Arts Commission at 843-537-8420, ext. 12, or via email lbennett@cheraw.com.
“We look forward to another great exhibit featuring the creations and collections of our community,” said Lindsay Bennett, executive director for the Cheraw Arts Commission.
The Cheraw Arts Commission is supported by the United Way of Chesterfield County and the SC Arts Commission which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
