At first glance this pileated woodpecker may look a bit like an over achiever, having finally toppled an old pine. Actually this tall stump continues to sustain life, not only for the woodpecker, but it is a perfect nesting spot for a morning dove. If you look closely, you'll see the dove is camoflagued in the center of the stump, undisturbed by the woodpecker's search for breakfast.
