CHESTERFIELD — Chesterfield Town Council approved an ordinance passed Feb. 10 requiring pet owners to clean up their pet’s feces left on public property and private property owned by others.

The ordinance aims at pet owners whose animals leave their mark on public as well as private property they don’t own.

According to the proposed ordinance, pet owners would be required to pick up feces utilizing a plastic bag or “other suitable container” and disposing of the excrement.
