The Southern African American Heritage Center will host a special presentation, 6 p.m., April 16 featuring Joseph McGill. McGill will present the Slave Cabin Project which he created to bring attention the preservation needs of the historical slave cabin structures throughout the south. McGill has slept in slave cabins throughout South Carolina and other states, and will share his experiences with the project and share some of the unique stories that have unfolded during his overnight visits at the cabins.
McGill is a program officer with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, a founder of the 54th Massachusetts, Co. I, Civil War Reenactment Regiment and also serves on the South Carolina African American Heritage Commission.
