CHERAW – Northeastern Technical College presented First Citizens Bank with the Outstanding Contributor to Technical Education award during the Honors Program ceremony held recently.
This award has been presented annually since 1982 by the NETC Student Government Association to an individual, business or organization that has made unique and valuable contributions to the College.
The First Citizens Foundation contributed $100,000 to assist in the purchase of equipment and supplies for the NETC nursing program. Gregory Sanderson, retail sales manager at the Cheraw First Citizens branch, was on hand to receive the award.
Sanderson congratulated the students for their achievements and reinforced the value of community support to the success of NETC and its students. Past recipients have included industries, healthcare providers, community supporters, and NETC staff and faculty members.
The College also recognized during the ceremony students for outstanding academic achievement in arts and sciences, computer technology, technology, and business degree pathways. Students were also inducted into Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society of community and technical colleges, and others were recognized for being named to the President’s List and for serving as officers and senators in the college’s Student Government Association.
NETC’s student members of the 2010-2011 Who’s Who in American Junior Colleges were also recognized, as well as the students nominated for the All USA Academic Team.
