CHERAW — Douglas H. Kimrey, Sr., 81, died June 29, 2011.

Graveside services were held July 2 at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens, Cheraw. Visitation was held at the residence, Cheraw.

Mr. Kimrey was born January 31, 1930, in Cheraw, a son of the late Brack Monroe and Ruth Allen Kimrey. He was a retired employee of ARA Food Services with 25 years of service. Mr. Kimrey was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and a former member of the SC National Guard. He was a member of North Cheraw Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Douglas was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Mike White and by a brother, Brack M. Kimrey, Jr.

Douglas is survived by wife of 58 years, Vera Goodwin Kimrey, of the home; son, Douglas H. “Chuck” Kimrey, Jr. (Joyce) of Lexington; daughter, Sheila White of Winston-Salem, N.C.; brothers, Roger W. (Bobbie) Kimrey and Ernest Kimrey; sisters, Vera (W.C.) Davis and Barbara Graham; also four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home served the Kimrey family.
