The Cheraw Arts Commission is offering a variety of camps during July & August that include You Rock, Any Way, Shape or Form- Intro to Sculpting, Music Camp and Theatre Camp. During these day programs children will be able to explore visual and performing arts in a “cool” day camp environment.

You Rock!! imaginations will run wild while campers will be painting flowers, faces, animals and more on rocks. Supplies will be furnished, but participants ages 3 & up can bring a favorite rock. The camp dates are July 12-14 and cost is $20. Instructors are Gina & Miracle Bowles.

The Arts Commission is calling all youth musicians to join in the Music Camp July 18 to 21 with local musicians, Kris Houser and Patrick Davis. During the program, campers will explore the performing arts through the use of the dulcimer, chimes, recorder and other percussion instruments. This camp is for grades K through sixth and a great introduction to the world of music. Registration fee is $36, camp times run from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

Any Way, Shape, or Form… Intro to Sculpting will be held July 25-28 for campers ages eight and up. Artist Neil McClendon will teach basic sculpting skills of this visual art form. Participants will create a figurine using wire and clay. Registration fee of $25 includes all supplies. Camp times run from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Aspiring actors can discover more of the performing arts at the popular annual Theatre Camp, August 1 to 5, at the Theatre on the Green. During the program, campers will learn basic acting skills, sing, and dance. At the end of the week, there will be a performance featuring these future stars. The performance at the Theater will be Friday, August 5 in the evening. Leading the program are instructors from Porkchop Productions. The program is open to campers first to fourth grade and fifth grade and up. Registration is $45 for CAC members and $55 for non- members.
