Staff Report

The Cheraw Arts Commission is presenting artwork by local artist Neil McClendon during the month of October in the Burr Gallery. “McImages - Legacy In Motion” will feature sculpture, paintings, poems and writings. The public is invited to a gallery opening on Monday, Oct. 3 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The evening will include readings of McClendon’s writings. Neil has developed a unique method of forming sculptures using non traditional materials. His sculptures are realistic in their range of motion and allows the viewer to be moved to another time and place when viewing them. His works have been featured at the Florence Museum in an exhibit “The View From Here” and Art Trail Gallery, as well as shows in North Carolina. The exhibit will be displayed until Oct. 27. The Burr Gallery is located in the Cheraw Community Center at 200 Powe St. Gallery Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Cheraw Arts Commission is supported by the SC Arts Commission which receives funding from the National Endowment for the Arts and the United Way of Chesterfield County
