A reunion of all the old Chesterfield-area Colored Schools is in the works.

Scheduled for Aug. 29-30, the Chesterfield Colored High School Reunion will culminate on Saturday night with a banquet and dance from 7 p.m. until midnight at the Chesterfield Community Center.

Scheduled to speak at the banquet is Dr. Lee V. Leak, a former Chesterfield County graduate who went on to head the Department of Anatomy at Howard University Medical School in Washington, D.C.

"The focus is on educating young people today on what went on in those one-room school houses," CCHSR organizer Zedia Williams said. "Most kids who are playing around in school today don't know the struggle and fight for a good education that we had to go through."

Music at the dance will be provided by Wilbert Motley and The Emeralds, and will include hits from the 1940's through the 1980's.
