Maizie Belle P. Griggs, 92, of Chesterfield, died Sunday, July 20, 2003.

A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 22 from Chesterfield Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Born in Chesterfield County, Mrs. Griggs was a daughter of the late Duncan M. and Maggie Poston Pate. She was a graduate of Berry College in Macon, Ga., and retired from the Chesterfield County School System with 46 years of service. She was a member of Chesterfield Baptist Church where she served as a former Sunday School and VBS teacher.

Surviving are a son, Jack (Pat) Griggs of Chesterfield; a daughter, Gerry G. Boone of Florence; four grandchildren, Timothy Boone of Florence, Tara (Dennis) Barrineau of Waxhaw, N.C., Lyndi Boone of Charlotte, N.C., and Kevin Griggs of Chesterfield; two great-grandchildren, Caroline and Will Barrineau of Waxhaw, N.C.; a sister, Evelyn Pate Hall of Tampa, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jack Griggs; a brother, Melvin L. Pate; and two sisters, Margaret Pate Winburn and Voncille Pate Cassidy.

Arrangements were entrusted to Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
