Students will report for the first day of school Aug. 12. This will be a full day for all students, and breakfast and lunch will be served. All fees are the same as they were the previous school year. A standard instructional fee of $35 is charged each student in grades nine through 12.

"This takes the place of individual course fees at the high school level," Assistant Superintendent for Operations Frank Patterson said, "and should actually be less than most students have been paying in the past at the high school level."

Other fees such as vehicle registration and locker fees will remain, however. In grades one through eight, students will pay an activity fee of $10.

Breakfast and lunch prices are the same as they were last school year. Regular lunch is $1.20, and reduced student lunch for those students who qualify is 40 cents. Regular breakfast is 60 cents while reduced student breakfast is 30 cents.

Application forms for free and reduced lunch can be obtained in the school offices or at the school district's Web site at http://www.chesterfield.k12.sc.us/lunchfreereduced.html.

Insurance is available for $10 for school day coverage or $46 for 24-hour coverage. Optional dental coverage is available for $5.

Information on individual schools is as follows:

JEFFERSON-PAGELAND

Jefferson Elementary: The regular school day is from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Students should report to their homerooms on the first day of school.

Open House is Monday, Aug. 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. at which time students can meet their teachers and pay fees, and parents can register new students.

Petersburg Primary: The regular school day is from 7:50 a.m. until 2:35 p.m. On the first day of school, students should report to their assigned homerooms. For car riders, parents should stay in their cars and students will be brought to the car (parents should have a card with their child's name on it; the child's name will be called and they will come to the car).

Open House will be Thursday, Aug. 7 from 4 until 7:30 p.m. Students and parents may meet teachers and pay fees at this time. Class lists will be posted on the front doors Friday, Aug. 1.

Pageland Elementary: School will take in at 7:50 a.m., and students will be dismissed at 2:35 p.m. Car riders will be dropped off and picked up in the back of the main building. New students who have not enrolled need to report to the office.

On the first day of school, students will go directly to their homerooms. Class rolls will be posted on the main entrance and cafeteria doors by Aug. 4.

Students need to bring their supplies with them on the first day. Grade level supply lists will be published in the local newspaper and will be distributed at Open House.

Open House will be Thursday, Aug. 7 from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Students and parents will have an opportunity to find their classrooms, meet their teachers and tour the building. School fees ($12 per student) will be collected in the media center.

New Heights Middle: The regular school day is from 8:05 a.m. until 3:10 p.m. Students will report to the commons area on the first day of school. Fee night will be held Thursday, Aug. 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Friday, Aug. 8 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Central High: The regular school day is from 8:05 a.m. until 3:10 p.m. On the first day of school, students should initially report to the cafeteria/commons area. Fee night will be held Thursday, Aug. 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. and Friday, Aug. 8 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Instructional fee is $35, parking fee is $5 and the locker fee is $2.

RUBY-CHESTERFIELD

Ruby Elementary: The regular school day is from 8 a.m. until 2:50 p.m. On the first day of school, all students should report to their homerooms prior to 8 a.m.

Open House will be Thursday, Aug. 7 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Students and parents may visit teachers in their rooms and pay fees.

Edwards Elementary: The regular school day is from 8 a.m. until 2:50 p.m. Students will report to their homerooms on the first day of school.

Open House will be Friday, Aug. 8 from noon until 3 p.m. at which time parents and students can meet teachers, pay fees and register new students.

Chesterfield-Ruby Middle: The regular school day is from 7:55 a.m. until 2:55 p.m. Students arriving by car are to use the front entrance to the school. The road that leads to the front entrance is the eastern entrance (the driveway closest to Chesterfield). Only buses will be allowed to use the western entrance (the driveway closest to Ruby). Lockers will be issued to students, and students will be allowed to visit their lockers at designated times during the school day. Therefore, there should be no need for students to carry book bags from class to class. Excessively large book bags or book bags on wheels will not be allowed at schools.

When students arrive at school, they will be directed to their homerooms or to an assembly in the gymnasium.

Schedules for students who are not able to attend Open House will be available in homeroom. Open House for students and parents will be held on Friday, Aug. 8 from noon until 3:15 p.m. Students can pick up schedules, pay fees to their homeroom teachers, and purchase lunch tickets during this time.

Chesterfield High: The regular school day is from 8 a.m. until 2:55 p.m. On the first day of school, students should report to the gym by 8 a.m.

In addition to the $35 instructional fee, there is an $8 locker fee (pro rated for upper classmen) and a $5 vehicle registration fee. Open House will be Thursday, Aug. 7 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

PLAINVIEW-MCBEE

Plainview Elementary: The regular school day is from 7:55 a.m. until 2:50 p.m. On the first day of school, teachers will be available to direct students to their homerooms.

The date for Open House will be Thursday, Aug. 7 from 4 to 6 p.m. Parents and students will be able to meet their teachers at this time, pay fees, learn about bus scheduling, etc.

McBee Elementary: The regular school day is from 8 a.m. until 2:50 p.m. On the first day of school, all students should report to the cafeteria for further instructions. Car riders will enter the front entrance of the cafeteria. Bus students will use the rear entrance. Walkers may enter by either entrance. Open House will be Thursday, Aug. 7 from 4 to 6 p.m. Parents and their children may meet teachers at this time, as well as pay instructional, insurance and lunch fees.

McBee High: The regular school day is from 7:55 a.m. until 3:02 p.m. On the first day of school, students should report to their homerooms.

Open House will be Thursday, Aug. 7 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Returning student registration will be July 31 and Aug. 1 from 9 a.m. until noon and 1 to 3 p.m. each day.

High school and junior high fees may be paid during registration. The fees are $35 for high school and $11 for junior high.

CHERAW

Cheraw Primary: The regular school day is from 7:50 a.m. until 2:40 p.m. On the first day of school, students will report to their homerooms. Teachers will be available to assist students. Car riders should be dropped off on High Street. Buses will be loaded and unloaded at the Christian Street entrance.

Meet Your Teacher Day is Monday, Aug. 11 from noon until 2 p.m. Students and parents may visit homerooms, meet teachers, pay fees and receive information about classroom procedures.

Cheraw Intermediate: The regular school day is from 8 a.m. until 2:35 p.m. Students should not be dropped off before 7:30 a.m. Dismissal will be in the same directions as previous years. Third and fourth grades will line up at the front entrance. Fifth grade will line up at the second crossing with teacher supervision. Car riders must be picked up no later than 2:50 p.m.

Students should report to their homerooms on the first day of school. Teachers will be in the hallways to assist. If students eat breakfast, they will report to the cafeteria first then to their homerooms. Plan to arrive on time. Refrain from picking your student up between 2 and 2:35 p.m. in the office. Teachers and students are in the process of completing academic work at this time.

Open House will be held Monday, Aug. 11 from noon until 2 p.m. Fees may be paid during this time.

Long Middle: The regular school day is from 7:50 a.m. until 2:55 p.m. Students should be dropped off no earlier than 7:15 a.m. and picked up no later than 3:15 p.m.

On the first day of school, all sixth-graders should report to the cafeteria. All seventh-graders will report to the gym, and all eighth-graders will report to the paved area in the back of the school.

Meet Your Teacher Day will be Monday, Aug. 11 from noon until 2 p.m. Fees may be paid at this time.

Cheraw High: School will take in at 7:50 a.m. and dismiss at 2:50 p.m. A PTO Meeting/Open House will be Thursday, Aug. 14 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The Open House will start with a general session in the commons area followed by the PTO meeting. Eleventh- and 12th-grade students may pick up schedules and pay fees Monday, Aug. 11 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the commons area. Ninth- and 10th-graders will pick up schedules and pay fees on Monday, Aug. 11 from 1 to 3 p.m. Fees are $35 for instructional fee, $3 for lockers and $5 for parking.

On the first day of school, all students will report to their homerooms by 8 a.m. A homeroom list will be posted on the windows of the gymnasium foyer and on the entrance between the new wing and the old building on Tuesday morning, Aug. 12 for those students who were unable to pick up their schedules.
