The Cheraw Police Department arrested two men on separate drug charges last week, as the department continues its Operation Spring Cleaning.

Charles Simmons, 22, of 108 Tillman St., Cheraw, was arrested Aug. 20 on charges stemming from an Aug. 12 incident. Simmons was picked up after selling marijuana to an undercover agent from the Cheraw Police Department. After getting a warrant to search Simmons's home, law enforcement officers found a three-foot marijuana plant growing in his yard.

Simmons was booked on charges of distribution of marijuana, as well as manufacturing marijuana.

Nineteen-year-old Jason Buchanan, of 28 Huger St., Cheraw, was also arrested by Cheraw officers last week.

Buchanan had been wanted by authorities since April when Operation Spring Cleaning began. He evaded capture until last Wednesday.

Buchanan is charged with distribution of crack and distribution of crack within the proximity of a public park. He also faces several parole violations.

Since April, more than 30 drug-related arrests have been made in Operation Spring Cleaning.
