Green River announces golf winners, September match

Green River Country Club held its Junior Club Championship Aug. 8. Winners were: girls - Kelley King 49; nine and under - first, Holt Eddins 46, and second, Taylor Demby 50; 10-12 age group - first, Lewis Adams 40, second Ian Harper 42, third, Ty Weatherford, fourth, Seth Truesdale 48, fifth Soloman Jordan, 54; 13-17 age group - first, Andrew Stancil 77, second, Tyler Watson 79, third, Larry Adams 82, fourth Derek Watson 83, fifth, Dalton Harper 84.

Corey Cato managed a hole-in-one on Green Rivers' #6 on Aug. 9.

During Night Golf on Aug. 9, the team of Lawrence Hammonds, Warren Boswell, John King and Ralph Watson finished in first place with 33. Finishing second with a 34 was the team of Andy Gaskins, Tommy Schauer, Greg Demby and Grayson Clark.

Tying for first place with a 30 in the Couple's Tournament Aug. 24 were the teams of David Gulledge, Tammy Gulledge, Bill Schumacher and Rose Etta Schumacher, and Jay Bennett, Elizabeth Bennett, Gerald Turner and Lib Owen. Taking third with a 33 was the team of Mike Brown, Missy Brown, Scott Smith and Lisa Smith.

Green River Country Club is hosting the Palmetto Pulpwood 2-Man-Team Golf Tournament Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 20 and 21.

Tournament format is two-man teams, 36-hole better ball, pre-flighted by handicaps and past performances. Flights will be determined by Saturday's score.

The tournament is open to anyone with a verifiable handicap or playing ability. The field is limited to the first 80 teams.

Saturday morning tee times are available from 8 to 9:30 and afternoon times from noon to 1:30 with preferences honored for the earliest applications received. On Sunday, Division B will tee off in the morning and Division A in the afternoon. Division A will use blue tees and Division B white tees.

Entry is $150 per team and includes carts for two tournament rounds, participants' lunch on Saturday and Sunday Happy Hours, tournament prizes in each flight and unlimited practice rounds for cart fee only Sept. 15-19.

Only the first 80 teams returning entry forms will be eligible and forms must be returned by Sept. 17.
