Four new palm trees in front of the Chesterfield County School District building raised some eyebrows for folks driving by last week. Many wondered how an administration that constantly talks about being broke and having to scrimp to save money could afford to plant the new trees that cost around a thousand dollars each.
"The company (Greenview Landscaping Company, of Lexington,) that did all of the landscaping work around the (county's) schools just gave us the trees," said Chesterfield County School Superintendent Ken Dinkins.
Dinkins said he was uncertain exactly how the decision to donate the four trees actually came about, but what he did know was that the school district did not have to pay for them.
