Evelyn Redmond Redfearn, 78, of Chesterfield, died Monday, Sept. 29, 2003.

A memorial service was held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 from Chesterfield Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Chesterfield Baptist Church, 207 E. Main St., Chesterfield, S.C. 29709; Hospice of Chesterfield County, P.O. Box 293, Chesterfield, S.C. 29709; Chesterfield Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 388, Chesterfield, S.C. 29709; or a charity of one's choice.

Born in Central, Mrs. Redfearn was a daughter of the late Louis Caredine and Berline Head Redmond. She earned a master's degree and was a retired Darlington County schoolteacher. Mrs. Redfearn was instrumental in helping start Hospice of Chesterfield County, was a member of Chesterfield Baptist Church, Chesterfield Apartment Alliance and Chesterfield Ladies Investment Club. She was the widow of Ray Rivers Redfearn.

Surviving are four daughters, Marie R. (Dr. K. Lamont) Smith of Cincinnati, Ohio, Elaine R. (Greg) Benner of Chesterfield, Lou Ann (Alexander Hines) Redfearn of Charleston, and Lindy R. (Paisley) Watson of Chesterfield; 10 grandchildren, Emily Smith, Nathan Smith, Justin McLain, Daniel McLain, Jimmie Roberts, Paisley Watson Jr., Tyler Watson, Joanna Benner, Amelia Benner and Rebecca Benner; a brother, Jerry Redmond of Colorado Springs, Col.; and two sisters, Mary Martin-Lojek of Colorado Springs, and Barbara Locket of Fairfax, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Redmond.

Arrangements were entrusted to Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.
