A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at High Point Baptist Church. Burial followed in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Born in Lancaster, Mr. Carnes was son of the late John and Ozella Wright Carnes. He had been employed by Yarn Manufacturing in the shipping department, and was the widower of the late Mary S. Carnes.
Surviving are two sons, Billy (Shirley) Carnes Jr. of Pageland, and Jerry (Brenda) Carnes of Monroe, N.C.; a daughter, Maxine (Curtis) Lloyd of Sumter; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Arrangements were entrusted to Sutton Funeral Home.
