A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27 from Cedar Creek Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Born in Chesterfield County, Mr. Player was a son of Sherman and Viola Starling Player. Surviving are his wife, Irene Gainey Player; two children, Joe Player and Dawn Taylor; five siblings, Lois Weatherford, Martha Bryant, Roger, Rodney, Wayne, Michael, Harold Player; and grandsons.
Arrangements were entrusted to Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
