From LOCAL REPORTS

Hospice of Chesterfield County is again sponsoring the "Tree of Celebration." The tree on the lawn of the Hospice building in Chesterfield will glow with memorials and honorariums submitted by family and friends with a $10 contribution to Hospice.

Each light bears the name of someone who has died or is suffering from a terminal disease.

The lights on the tree will be lit Sunday, Dec. 7 at 4:30 p.m. and will remain lit through Dec. 29. The names of those being remembered or honored will be read during the ceremony.

The Hospice building is located at 140 S. Page St.

Donations must be received by Dec. 1 to be included in the ceremony, but donations will be accepted through December. Brochures are available at the Hospice office.

Hospice will also be offering the second in a series of Christmas ornaments depicting landmarks of Chesterfield County. The 2003 ornament features Cheraw Town Hall. A limited number of these handcrafted, fine pewter ornaments are available for a donation of $12.

Ornaments are also available at various locations throughout the county. Call 623-5526 for a list of these locations.

A few of the inaugural ornaments depicting the 1884 Chesterfield County Courthouse are still in stock at the Hospice Office.

All contributions to Hospice of Chesterfield County remain in the county.
