A funeral service was held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 6 from First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Bob Cline officiating. Burial followed in Westview Memorial Park Cemetery.

Born in Darlington County, Mr. Walters was a son of the late Wade Hampton and Lula Hawkins Walters. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was owner and operator of Carolina Upholstery since 1948. He served in the United States Army during World War II, was involved in the Battle of the Bulge, and was awarded the Purple Heart twice. He was also a 50-year Mason.
Surviving are his wife, Sue Snipes Walters of Hartsville; two sons, Wade (Jane) Walters III of Florence, and Bruce (Marissa) Walters of Hartsville; two daughters, Pam (David) Tarlton of Darlington, and Chure' (Robby) Galloway of Hartsville; three sisters, Ruby Gaskins of Chesterfield, Johnnie Bryant of Hartsville, and Pat (Sammy) Gibson of Hartsville; two brothers, William (Ann) Walters of Lugoff, and Leon (Brenda) Walters of Hartsville; a sister-in-law, Betty Carol Walters of Hartsville; five grandchildren, Wesley Walters, Whitney Walters, Matthew Tarlton, Porter Riley and Elliot Riley; and a great-grandchild, Esther Walters.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry Walters and Carol Walters.
Arrangements were entrusted to Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home.
