The towns of Chesterfield and McBee have been awarded water and sewer loans and grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Chesterfield will receive a $205,900 loan and a $617,000 grant, which will be used to bring its water and sewer facilities in compliance with new state regulations. In particular, the money will be used to correct unacceptable levels of oxygen and ammonia in the system.
McBee will receive a $172,200 loan and a $519,000 grant, which will be used to complete the removal of unacceptable levels of asbestos in the water system.
U.S. Rep. John Spratt helped secure the funding of these two grants.
