Dr. Gabe Simpson was named to the Board of Directors of the South Carolina College of Emergency Physicians at its annual meeting and symposium.
A Cheraw native and 1992 Cheraw High School graduate, Simpson received a Bachelor of Science from Francis Marion University with summa cum laude honors. He attended the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, where he received a Doctor of Medicine with magna cum laude honors.
While attending the School of Medicine, he was awarded the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine Excellence in Emergency Award. He was also named to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, reserved for the top 10 percent of all graduating medical students across the nation.
Simpson completed specialty training in emergency medicine at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital, one of the oldest and most respected emergency medicine residency programs in the country. He served as chief resident and was honored with the Sydney R. Berens Award for Compassion. He also received the Inservice Academic Excellence Award and the Most Outstanding Resident of the Year Award and scored in the top two percent nationally.
Simpson lives in Cheraw with his wife, Lisa, and their children, Jordan, Gracie, Ian and Ashley. He practices emergency medicine at Chesterfield General Hospital.
