Lamar S. Baker, 76, died Sunday, August 22, 2004.

A funeral service was held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at Edwards Chapel Baptist Church in Society Hill. Burial followed in the Harris Creek Church Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Harris Creek Volunteer Fire Dept., 3300 Byrd Road, Society Hill, S.C. 29593.

Born in Lake City, he was a son of the late Irvin McSwain and Sue Elizabeth Hancock Baker. He was a member of Edwards Chapel Baptist Church, a Mason and a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. Mr. Baker was a truck driver with Hennis Freight Line for 35 years. He liked to go fishing.

Surviving are his wife, Sally Keith Baker of Society Hill; two sons, Lamar Baker, Jr. of Society Hill, and Larry Baker of Hartsville; a daughter, Susie Brock of Wallace; a sister, Violet Bartell of Murrells Inlet; five grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Irvin McSwain and Sue Elizabeth Hancock Baker, and two brothers, Irvin and Trubert Baker.

Arrangements were entrusted to Kiser Funeral Home.
