The Lady Rams claimed their win over Buford at home last Wednesday night, taking the first, fourth and fifth games in the best-of-five match. Chesterfield took the opening game, 25-22, before falling to the Yellow Jackets, 25-12 and 25-20, in games two and three. With their backs against the wall, the Lady Rams rallied to take games four and five, 25-16 and 15-11.
Laurenn Chambers had nine kills for the Lady Rams offensively, while Traci Allen and Ashley Huneycutt each had eight digs on defense. Lashuanda Pegues also had 10 good service receives for the Chesterfield defense, while Samantha Radkin pitched in nine assists and Brittany Barefoot served up seven aces for points.
The win over Buford sent Chesterfield to Lewisville Thursday night to face a Lions squad the Lady Rams had already swept 3-0 once this season.
Lewisville wouldn't allow the Chesterfield team to pick up the win as easily last Thursday, forcing the visitors to play out all five games.
Chesterfield took the first two games of the match, 25-12 and 25-20, before the Lions answered with 25-23 and 25-19 wins in games three and four.
The Lady Rams answered with a 15-13 win in the night's final match to complete the season sweep of Lewisville.
Huneycutt led the Chesterfield offense on Thursday against Lewisville, serving up five aces and adding eight kills. Allen also pitched in five aces against the Lions.
Next up for the Chesterfield volleyball team will be matches against North Central at home Thursday at 6:30 p.m. before the Lady Rams hit the road to face Lee Central and Buford next Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
