According to reports from the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Department, Chavis O'Brian Jordan of 1390 Coon Creek Road is accused of shooting his 25-year-old neighbor, Jeffrey Horton of 1352 Coon Creek Road, in the chest.
The report states the shooting occurred around 11:30 p.m. when the two men crossed paths after one argument lead to another.
According to the report, Jordan was arguing with 19-year-old Kelvin Little who had been fighting with Jordan's sister over a conflict that involved the victim, Horton, and his wife. Horton and his wife had both left the scene to settle their differences when Jordan arrived.
When Jordan arrived to Coon Creek Road, he found Little fighting with his sister. Jordan began arguing with Little for fighting with his sister. Little allegedly left the scene and went to the home of the Hortons.
Shortly afterward, Horton reportedly came outside and yelled at Jordan for shooting up his trailer with his wife and small child inside. The report did not state whether any shots were fired at Horton's home.
A fight ensued between the two men, with Horton allegedly grabbing Jordan by the shirt, and Jordan allegedly shooting Horton in the chest. According to the report, Jordan's sister was standing beside Horton when Horton was shot, and she began trying to wrestle the gun away from Jordan.
While the two wrestled over the gun, Jordan allegedly fired off three or four more shots. He then broke free and drove away in his car.
Authorities arrived to discover Horton's body lying face up in a ditch in front of the 1392 Coon Creek Road residence.
Jordan was found two hours later in Wingate, N.C., and transported to the Chesterfield County Detention Center.
